However, on the 3rd of June, 1998, the super-fast, state-of-the-art ICE 884 derailed near Eschede, while traveling at a speed of 200km/h. The train was on its way from Munich to Hamburg, when it careened off its track. The incident left 101 people dead and 88 people injured. This episode looks at the investigations that led to answers as to why and how the disaster happened. And with advanced computer simulations, the cause and events that led to the world’s worst high-speed rail disaster are presented.
