December 1995, it’s the holiday season and the skies are full. Airlines and passengers are dealing with the stresses of traveling at this busy time. American Airlines Flight 965 was held on the tarmac in Miami for two hours.

Northwest Airlines Flight #85 is halfway between Detroit and Japan’s Narita Airport. With more than 400 people on board, the Boeing 747 is cruising 35,000 feet above the Bering Sea when suddenly the aircraft lurches violently to the left and begins losing altitude.

Flying through a violent tropical thunderstorm, TACA Flight #110 begins its final descent towards New Orleans when both engines quit and the plane begins dropping from the sky. The pilots restart both engines but almost immediately they overheat forcing the pilots to shut them down.
